Purpose

Hospice is a concept of organized care designed to meet the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patient and provide support and care for persons in the last phase of an incurable illness so that they might live as fully and comfortable as possible. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. It is the hope and belief of hospice that through appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community sensitive to their needs, patients and families may be free to attain a degree of mental and spiritual preparation for death that is satisfactory for them. Hospice of the Shoals will assist the terminally ill patient in achieving and maintaining a state of dignity in living and dying and support the family through the crisis of death. Our priority is still the same as in the beginning – quality of care. Our goal is to make sure that every terminally ill patient has access to a caring group of professionals who work together as a team to help that patient and their loved ones to have the best quality of life possible.
